Avoidance and Distraction – it’s CPA time again!

I know I have many talents, most of you know I have many talents, there are some talents that I have yet to share with you all, but believe me when I tell you…I’m just plain talented.

I had forgotten though just how good I am at avoiding study. This week marks the start of the next CPA unit for me. A unit I deferred last semester with the ducks nuts of avoidance strategies, a broken C7 disc!

Having spent my life savings on my new neck I figured another injury was probably not wise to use as a delaying tactic. It was time to put my thinking cap on and come up with some fool proof (and cheap) distractions to see me through to the end of April.

Facebook to the rescue – A quick scroll through the news feed and I decided to finally download Pinterest. I’m still learning how to use it of course but I’m sure it will provide me with hours of distraction and I’ll wonder how I ever lived without it. Here are my first ‘pins’.

But I’ve been thinking about Pinterest for a long time (maybe even avoiding it) and I wasn’t satisfied with that alone. A few months ago I signed up for Twitter and then the app stopped working and it got all too hard so I deleted it. But now that I’m busy, now that I have 15 hours of study to fit in each week, I can definitely find the time to learn Twitter! I’ve already had to unfollow Shane Warne, three hours of his tweets and he is officially off my list! Dan however, remains...

Still I wanted more, and like a sign from the good Lord above, right as I was pinning on Pinterest and checking Tweets I got a private message from a friend telling me I would love Word Ring. I’ll admit to being reluctant to install this one. It’s not a free app and I really wanted these distractions to be cheap and nasty. I decided it was worth the $0.99 investment and got started straight away. Cheers for the hot tip MacGyver!
I still had an inkling I’d have too much free time to study so I also installed ABC iview and plan to spend Emme’s sleep times catching up on missed episodes of Charlie and Lola and Peppa Pig and let’s face it, whatever else I can find to pass the time.

Righto – time for a screen shot of my 4 new lovely apps for the BFF before I file them away into their folders. I still have a few decisions to make before my avoidance and distraction mission is fully in force. Do I run my phone on silent mode for the next 12 weeks so I don’t get constantly interrupted? Which usually results in me running to the phone every 5 minutes to check it ‘just in case’. Or keep the sound on and take the much needed distractions as they come? Knowing me, I’ll stress over this decision until about Week 11 and then in the midst of a panic attack I’ll hide my phone in my tea towel drawer, lock myself in my wardrobe and cram cram cram!

Did I mention I was talented?
