Where to start - Kris and I got a rescue call from Tones on Saturday as she was too hungover to drive to the wedding. So we set off to Dwellingup with a detour via Mandurah to pick her up. Kris and Tones decided to make a start on the beer on the way up the hill while I drove and given she just needed a little top up it was a pearler of a trip with lots of laughs and even snorts and thigh slaps! Tones took a few selfies in the car despite claiming to HATE them!
The weather gods had put on a pearler and we stood around in the blistering sun waiting for the bride. I can't remember ever feeling hotter but we were all in the same boat and knew it would make the beers taste better later! The ceremony was held on the river bank and it was so hard not to jump in the water and cool off! We spent all of our childhood summers out at Nanga and Baden Powel and it was so awesome to be back there, even better to be there with some of the kids that we grew up with.
Karina soon arrived and the wedding ceremony was over and done with before we knew it. Tones wouldn't let me selfie at the ceremony so I have no pics. (Boo!!) After the ceremony I convinced her to come to the waters edge for a photo with me. Poor Tones - she hates having photos taken and we snuck to the back of the crowd for our pic only to have the celebrant announce the group photo was about to be taken "on the rocks where those two ladies are having a photo!". Hmmm - that was embarrassing - but worth it hey Tones to have these memories now??
It was hot and sweaty but oh so fun! Add a few photo booth crazies, and even more beers and it was starting to get messy! I had been praying to the toe nail gods all week for my busted nail to stay on, I should have prayed harder. The groom stomped on my toe in the middle of the dance floor and the blood spilled everywhere! It's still hanging on (just) but doubt I'll have it for much longer! It's ok - we kissed and made up!
The night wound down just after midnight and we headed back to Mandurah to take Tones home. Kris and I decided to hit the town so I changed dresses in the car and squeezed my bloody toe into some heels! What were we thinking - a few laps of the club and we felt like 50 year olds! Nothing a shit load of CC and Dry wouldn't take care of though - so we settled in for the night with some young kids and I danced the morning away with the cutest little 24 year old in a hot onesie! Love making new BFF's at night clubs - we said our emotional goodbyes in the wee hours of the morning and stumbled to the kebab shop. Then taxied it home to grab 3 hours sleep before heading back to Harvey. Tones bathroom floor has never felt better!
Needless to say, today was tough - I'm seedy and tired but here I am...still alive and still smiling at an awesome wedding, a fun night out, and a camera full of selfies! And sometimes all you can do on days like this is get back on the horse - cheers!!
